Elle a franchi la ligne d’arrivée en 14 min 54 s 36, réalisant ainsi le premier doublé 5 000 m – 10 000 m depuis 2011.

La course a été marquée par une fin de course très disputée, où Chebet et sa compatriote Faith Kipyegon (14 min 55 s 07) se sont détachées du reste du peloton. L’Italienne Nadia Battocletti a complété le podium avec un temps de 14 min 55 s 42.
